I don't know why it is so easy to get so far behind on blogging! I love doing it, but sometimes my head just gets stuck in the clouds. Well I'm back, and this time I mean it!

Here's a quick catch up of what I've been doing the past month.

I had a very merry Christmas...

And a happy new year!

I also found this photo of my grandparents partying when they were young on New Year's Eve... how adorable is this!

Then it was my birthday!

My birthday fell on Friday the 13th this year and lasted through MLK day. Spent a lot of time with my family and friends - I'm a very lucky girl!

And I know it's Friday the 13th, but I was born on Friday the 13th, so it's a lucky day for me!

Christmas Party 2011!

Last weekend was Jamie and Eric's annual Christmas party! It's always a blast, but last year it snowed an insane amount of snow so we couldn't make it. This year we are probably going to have a brown Christmas in Minnesota, but at least there will be no trouble traveling this year!

The party began as an ugly Christmas sweater party, but it's evolved to be anything-goes-as-long-as-you-show-your-Christmas-spirit. There are even prizes for the best dressed.

I had a totally funny and fabulous costume in mind, and I thought it would be easy to pull it off. Per usual, I waited until the last minute to get started and then I had a hard time finding the materials, but I got what I thought would work.

Then I got started on the outfit, and let's just say their were tools and blood, some mine but mostly not mind. After all that, when it still wasn't coming together... I was having a Tim Gunn style "make it work" moment and I totally thought everything would pull together!

But it didn't... all the pain, no gain.

Oh well, it sounds dramatic, but it shouldn't have been! I thought it would be easy, but not in the least. And then to have nothing to show for it... geez! Maybe next year, that's why I'm not saying what it is... if you want to know and you can keep it a secret leave me a comment with your email and I'll tell you via email :)

After that, I just threw on a "as Christmas-y as I could figure out last second" outfit and went. But I had a fabulous time at the party regardless of the fact I didn't get to wear a semi-crazy outfit... because I like a good reason to dress up.

Owl Decor and Taylor Swift is Gorgeous in Bangs

Maybe you remember the old owl pot I got at a thrift store; for some reason I totally fell for this cute little owl that said "Joann '77" on the bottom. I knew it was a little ugly... so I polled my visitors and about 30% thought I shouldn't get it. But the majority still said to go for it, so I did and here it is after a little white spray paint:

It was a super easy DIY project, and I'm happy with the result! Owls are all over the place lately, and they are so cute!! Here's how it looks on my book shelve, by the cute owl candle Ashley gave me:

And I was watching Fashion Police on E! this weekend and Taylor Swift won best look of the week in this beautiful red dress with her fab hair and make-up. Taylor was dressed up because she was named as Billboard’s Woman of the Year. I'm not super into her music, but damn the girl know how to wear a dress and smize (smile with your eyes, just in case you haven't been schooled by Tyra).

I love her hair like this... makes me want bangs! Not sure if I could pull them off or not... I wore fake bangs to the Lady Gaga concert, but I made them myself. Has anyone ever tried the clip-in bangs? Maybe I could do that :)

WEN® Sweet Almond Mint Cleansing Conditioner

I had never used a product similar to WEN's Sweet Almond Mint Cleansing Conditioner; it's a shampoo and conditioner in one, but it cannot be compared to all-in-ones like Pert Plus. This cleansing conditioner seems very high end and I love the way my hair felt after using it. I'm not a shampoo expert, but I've heard that the suds in shampoos are actually not necessary and can be harsh on your hair, which is one reason I liked this, it seems very gentle. One tip is to follow the instructions closely, and rinse well.

Derma E Very Clear™ Cleansing Scrub

I also have enjoyed using Very Clear Cleansing Scrub by Derma E. I have fairly dry and sensitive skin, I got a Clarisonic skin cleansing system, because I heard it was wonderful, but even their gentlest brushes were too harsh for my skin. I do like to exfoliate though to keep my skin soft and fresh feeling. This cleansing scrub recommends to use it once or twice a week, which is just the right amount of exfoliating for me. It leave my skin feeling great and it's not too rough for my skin.

Avalon Organics Cherry Aloe Organic Lip Balm

Finally, I liked using this nourishing Cherry Aloe Lip Balm. I don't like to use lip balm that full of medicines that just make your lips need more chap-stick, so I love that this was all natural. I use this before I go to bed, and I put a layer of Vaseline over it to lock it in. And that's about all the lip balm I need, even in with it being winter in Minnesota where it is 12 degrees out right now.

4th Book Club -- The Help by Kathryn Stockett (no spoilers)

We recently had our fourth book club meeting, with my favorite book club book so far, The Help by Kathryn Stockett.

Ashley selected the book and hosted - and we had a blast, as always :) We started with a little shopping, then drinks and apps (which were kindly paid for by the older gentleman that happened to be sitting next to us at the bar - so nice!). After that we went out for delicious wine and Italian food, where we freaked out the waiter by requesting him. The bartender at the previous restaurant told us to tell ask for his friend to be our server, but he apparently got a little nervous when he was requested by a bunch of girls he didn't know... even after we told him. Oh well!

We came back to Ashley's and played games and had a few drinks, except Ashley couldn't drink because she's having a baby boy!!! I'm so excited for her and her hubby, they are going to be amazing parents :)

We also had to take our book club pics for the night, since now it's tradition! We've been taking goofy pictures today since middle school, so why stop now?

We also found a few minutes to discuss the book, which I didn't think I would like that much, but I ending up loving The Help. I have no idea why I thought I wouldn't like it, because everyone was talking about how great it was, so from now on I'm going to listen to recommendations! On that note, another book I kept hearing about was the Hunger Games. Again, I avoided reading it for a while because I thought I wouldn't like it. Then, when I first started reading it I thought I really wouldn't like it. I definitely am not a "Katniss Everdeen" type girl, you can't even talk about hunting around me. But I LOVED the book! So I kinda cheated and picked that for my book club book... but only because I really want them to read it. And I'm still working on the series; I just finished Catching Fire and started Mockingjay.

Weekend Review! Breaking Dawn Part 1 - Pinterest -

I saw Breaking Dawn Part 1 on Friday night, and I LOVED the movie... Breaking Dawn was my favorite in the Twilight Saga and I've really enjoyed the other movies, so I knew I was going to like this one! I liked the Breaking Dawn so much that I tricked myself into thinking that everyone else (including movie critics) would love it too, which is not the case. The movie made $283.5 million it’s opening weekend though… so I don’t think I’m the only one who enjoys the movies!

However, the experience wasn't like my past Twilight movie screenings. There was way more guys at the movie theater; and when I say way more I mean about 20% of the audience instead of 5%. The crowd also seems a little older too, and I was disappointed there wasn't a collective scream when Jacob took off his shirt. Although this happened about two seconds into the movie, so maybe we all weren't ready quite yet :)

Saturday, I went shopping at Mall of America with intentions of getting some Christmas presents checked off my list. But I always need time to think about what to get people, so I didn't have any luck with that. But I did get a cute skirt that I wanted because I saw this photo on pinterest!

I also have been inspired by all the cute ways people do their nails on pinterest and I've been trying a few fun things with mine. This weekend I did a snakeskin type pattern using China Glaze Platinum Silver and Sally Hansen Black Crackle Overcoat - I think it turned out pretty cool!

And we got our first snow on Saturday... I'm not a huge fan of snow and winter in general, but it does look pretty and get me more in the Christmas spirit! Here's a photo of a evergreen tree in my front yard... definitely Christmas-y!

Gwen Stefani's Harajuku Mini Collection for Target - why is it just for kids!?!

I was so excited when I saw the commercial that said Gwen Stefani was doing a line for Target!! I've loved Gwen since about 7th grade, I even had photos of her with No Doubt all over my planner! And I saw her in concert when she went solo, and I liked that even better than No Doubt. Gwen and Target would be an awesome combination of two things I love...

I haven't really bought much from her clothing lines, Harajuku Lovers or L.A.M.B., but not because I didn't want her clothes... I've seen a lot of her shoes and was tempted to buy them because they are super cute, but they were leather (which I don't do) and more money than I would normally spend on shoes. But Target could have been the perfect answer: cheaper (yay!) which would also probably mean all man-made materials (double yay!).

However, the Harajuku Mini collection doesn't mean it's a small collection, it means it's literally mini, as in little girls. Bummer!! Too bad I'm not still in 7th grade, because I would be stocking up. Maybe I can manage to squeeze into a girls size 14...

Vikings vs Green Bay Game in Minneapolis - 2011

Last year, we went to a vikings game around my mom's birthday and we had a blast. We had Brett Favre and Randy Moss... and the Vikings won!!! And then things went downhill after that for the Vikes. But one of the most fun parts of the game last year was tailgating.

So this year, the Vikings were playing the Green Bay Packers at the Metrodome a few weeks before my mom's birthday. The Vikings vs Packers is the most sought-after game of the year around here, so we decided just to go for the tailgating, and not dish out all that cash for the game. I'm not a fair-weather fan, but spending a small fortune for a tickets to game that in all reality we would probably lose didn't seem like the best idea... sorry Vikings!!!

This year soon after we arrived to tailgate, it started raining... hard. But soon after that, it turned into a beautiful, sunny October afternoon. Everyone was having a blast, and even our rival Packer fans were fun to be around. People wear the craziest get ups and you know me, I'm a sucker for that!

One guy was dressed mankini style (see the top left corner) so we stopped over, because LOL... man in a bikini top! We were greeted with Jagermeister shots, kinda gross in my opinion, but it was ice cold and that helped! It turned out it was a really cool group of Canadians that drove a party bus 6 hours to come party and go to the game. Most of them were bar owners in Thunder Bay so they knew how to have a good time!

After a few fun hours of tailgating, they gave my mom, sister and me tickets to the game... FOR FREE!! It seems too good to be true, but it is! Thank you, Canada!! You guys are the best!

The vikings didn't win, but it was a very close game (only 6 points!) and the Vikings were ahead for most of the game, so it was super fun!

I feel like I know a good amount about football, but still don't know all the Ref Symbols and this really helped me out... LOL. I love the invisible sombrero!

Halloween 2011 Recap

As you might be able to tell, I love dressing up (ie Zombie, Lady Gaga, ugly bridesmaid dress, Katy Perry). So obviously, I love dressing up for Halloween too, and I like to start planning my Halloween costume early. However, this year I did something I have never done before... I just went out and got store bought Halloween costume.

I had intentions of working with a group of four to make a pretty cool costume, however, my trip to New York and some other stuff that kept me busy in October, and there just wasn't enough time to make everything. Maybe next year...

Last minute, we decided to try to add the zipperface. We ran to JoAnn's for the zipper and got Spirit Gum from the Halloween store and I watched the YouTube video... I thought we were set. But Zipperface was not that simple...

I got the zipper on alright, although we didn't get any latex to blend the seams of the and I didn't have any make that caked up enough to cover it up. But the real trouble was getting the zipper to stay completely glued after he would talk or move his face at all. It was pretty clear it wasn't going to stay on all night, so he had to take it off, which was too bad because I think it looked pretty cool!

Zombie Pub Crawl - Minneapolis 2011

Hello - I'm back from being MIA - Promise!!!

So I've been busy with lots of fun stuff, but I thought it would be the perfect time to get ready for Halloween with some for Zombie Pub Crawl photos.

It seems like Zombie Pub Crawls are getting more and more popular everywhere, but it's HUGE in Minneapolis/St. Paul. It was my first time and it was insane how many zombies were walking the streets of the Twin Cities. There was talk that we were going to break the Guinness Book of World Records' record for “The World's Largest Gathering of Zombies." I'm not sure how they would have counted the zombies, maybe by wristband sales, but there were definitely thousand of zombies dragging their feet around the cities.

The Proposal - Wow it's already been 4 years!!

The Proposal

Logan proposed at Minnehaha Falls on September 26th, 2007:

The planning:

Logan was ready to propose and was working with his brother Brody on getting the proposal setup for when we took our trip to San Diego to visit Brody and Aimee. The plans were set, proposal in San Diego....

We had been dating for over 6 years and were just out of college. Logan never gave me any hints about proposing, we never went ring shopping, and I had no idea what Logan’s plan was which started to frustrate me. He wanted to totally surprise me, so he would make up excuses like yes, but we just got out of college and student loans.

So one day I started talking to Logan about our upcoming trip and told him that a lot of my friends were asking me “do you think he will propose there? I bet he will!!” And Logan’s thinking… shoot!

Few Day Before Proposal:

So much for the San Diego proposal :) After hearing that from me, only a few days before our trip, Logan decided he had to change plans quickly because he wanted this to be unexpected. He decided to do it before the trip! So he called his sister, LaDieh, and asked for some help because Logan wanted to capture the moment. Logan thought of Minnehaha Falls so he, LaDieh, and Carson all drove to the location to scope it out. They walked through a nonpath along the creek and found a big tree stump that fell to the ground that looked like a perfect bench on the creek. They figured out all the plans and were set for the big day!! LaDieh's spot was across the creek up about 15 feet above where the proposal location was set. It was perfect spot for photographing the moment.

The Proposal:

On September 26th, 2007 Logan called me and said "you know we just got these new cameras and we always talk about taking more pictures. I read that Minnehaha Falls is beautiful right now with the tree changing colors. Let’s go there." I wasn’t completely convinced because it was a week or two until the best colors came out and most the trees were still green. But I agreed and not thinking anything of it (as you can tell by my outfit!).

When they got there, the leaves were barely changing but Logan said "oh well, we can till take some good pictures." Logan was trying to be careful not to go too fast, or too slow and lead me in the correct path without being too obvious. He noticed a storm brewing so in addition to being nervous about proposing, the weather enhanced it tenfold. Just what a guy needs.

Logan finally got me to the planned spot and looked to see that LaDieh was in place peeping out from behind a tree across the creek. When I saw the tree, I thought it would be a cool place for a picture and when over without coaxing. I was taking a picture of the two of us and I finally noticed Logan was acting a little weird. He totally surprised me by getting down on one knee and proposing! He seemed to have a little speech planned out but I can’t really remember what he said or what I said other than YES!

LaDieh took a few photos after she came out from her hiding spot, which was another surprise for me! After a little while, we all walked back to the cars, storm over head, but not a single drop of rain. When we stepped into our car it instantly started down pouring. Logan had champagne waiting in his trunk, which would have been sweet, but with the rain we didn’t have it. But I was too excited to worry about that! We went to dinner and shared the news with our families. I was so happy and it worked great that we got to leave for our trip after we got the chance to see our families first. I got lots of bridal magazines to look at on the plane ride and we had blast in San Diego.

Tips for a Trip to NYC

In a few weeks, I will be visiting New York City for the first time! I got the best advice when I asked for tips for a Las Vegas vacation so I'm hoping to get lucky again!

Here's what I do know

I'm going with my husband and we are staying in a hotel near times square. We will be there for about 6 days and part of the time I will need to find things to by myself. I will want to do a lot of the standard site seeing; i.e. Central Park, Statue of Liberty, Time Square, etc.

What I need to know

What restaurants would you suggest?
What else do I need to see or do while in New York?
What is the best tip you could give someone before going to New York City for the first time?

Season Finalle of Big Brother Tonight! I hope Rachel Wins!!

I’m so excited for the season finale of Big Brother tonight! I’m rooting for Rachel Reilly all the way… not sure why but I’ve always liked her! Sure, she is obnoxious, but let’s face it, without Rachel, season 13 would have been pretty boring, and I watch reality tv for the drama! And Rachel’s middle name is Drama…. plus she's hilarous (whether she's trying or not.... I'm not totally sure sometimes!)

Porsche is way more annoying than Rachel in my opinion. I don’t mind Adam and the Tori Spelling episode was awesome! So he's pretty much won more than he deserves already because he was horrible at the game. I was sad to see Jordan go, because it’s impossible not to like her, but Rachel deserves it this time! She had to fight from the very beginning to stay in the house and it’s amazing she made it this far.

Are you watching Big Brother tonight? Who do you want to win?

NO SPOILERS PLEASE :) -- I have been resisting all the spoilers, so I don’t know who will be playing the final game for the last head of house hold, so DON’T tell me! I’m saving myself for tonight!

Lil Wayne 'I am Still Music' Concert in St. Paul Minnesota

So last week, Logan was in Chicago for work just the day, but wouldn't be getting home until late. It was a Wednesday, so I made plans with my mom and sister to get together and watch Big Brother...

Last minute, an old friend at work asks if I have plans for the next day and I tell him about my Big Brother plans, because he’s a huge fan too… I miss sitting by him! But he also knows I really like Lil Wayne, since I went to won tickets to his concert two years ago.

(we felt left out since so many people were wearing their shades during the concert that we decided to join in)

So I had to postpone with my mom (sorry mama) and Shauna and I went to the concert. We had a blast.... although I have to say it was pretty similar to his concert I went to two years earlier, but he has a few new songs I really like (How To Love & 6 Foot 7 Foot). The crowd at his concert seemed a little more varied this time... and no one wearing their sunglasses... except Lil Wayne. The Xcel center also wasn't that full, and having a full house really makes a concert that much better - couldn't they do a groupon or something?!

But Lil Wayne profusely thanked the audience over and over, and seeing him in concert makes me like him more. But when I saw him on the MTV Music Video Awards, I liked him less... must be better in person? Or maybe the Minnesota nice rubs off that quickly :)

Speaking of in person, the day after his concert, Logan (my hubby) saw him walking the streets of Minneapolis with a small crew of large men, who made Lil Wayne look especially lil. I was so jealous, he said they made eye contact and Logan thinks he gave Lil Wayne a weird look, like 'no way... that's Lil Wayne!' But Logan didn't go up to him, it's too bad it wasn't me who saw him, that would have been so cool and you can bet that I would have at least gotten a photo with him!

Dan Brown's Lost Symbol - Book Club 3

This past weekend was our third book club meeting, and this time we read The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown. The book is about Robert Langdon, from Dan Brown’s books Angels & Demons and The Da Vinci Code, only this time book is set in Washington D.C. If you liked the other Robert Langdon books, you would definitely like The Lost Symbol, as it was very similar and had some major twists and turns to keep you reading.

However, our book club meetings are about much more than reading and discussing the books, although so far everyone is 3 for 3 for finishing the books! Yay for us!

This book was selected by Jamie, who also hosted. It was a beautiful Saturday, so we came over early
We started with lunch and wine. Jamie made a yummy, summer salad with a fresh tasting white wine.

Next, pineapple mojitos… sooo good!!!

After a few lovely hours in the sun, we got ready and headed out to dinner at Perrons' Sul Lago, they have the best Italian food and lemon cello!

We also had to take some fun pictures with the book, which has become a book club tradition...

And then we went out to a local bar, which is always kinda interesting but definitely a good time!

It was a super fun girl night, and we even talked a little about the book!

Now it's on to our next book....

The Help by Kathryn Stockett! I've heard lots of good things and I've been meaning to read it, so I'm excited to get started!

Another Weekend of Fun in the Sun!

Logan and I finally got our bikes and went on their maiden ride around Lake Harriet, Lake Calhoun and Lake of the Isles.

It's such a pretty area with the lakes and all the gorgeous houses! We did almost 30 miles in about 2 hours, not too bad....

Charlie had some swimming lessons this weekend. It took a lot of coaxing, but he finally would come out into the water. You have to see what he does with his back legs about 30 seconds in... so cute!! Check it out here:

What to Wear to a Katy Perry Concert

This weekend I had a lot of fun going to the after Cruise Night Pan-O-Prog festivities, here are a few photos from Friday night:

Saturday I was planning on going to Katy Perry, but she got food poisoning :( She postponed her Twin Cities and Chicago shows, so now I will see her in August.

I was bummed, because I was really looking forward to her show. However, now that it's delayed, I have more time to decide on what to wear to the concert. If you have read my blog for long, you probably realize I still like to play dress up (i.e. bridesmaids, Lady Gaga concert, Lady Gaga again, etc) which is probably part of the reason why I like Katy Perry and Lady Gaga. So, in my mind, a Katy Perry concert is a great reason to find a fun, Katy-Perry-ish outfit.

I would love to wear this Blugirl blue leopard print dress by Blumarine. Katy Perry wore in her Glamour magazine photo shoot:

Sadly, I couldn't find it for sale online and it's probably ten times as expensive as the concert tickets, but isn't it cute?!

Such a blast ~ 4th of July Weekend ~ 2011

It was an absolutely gorgeous 4th of July weekend in the Twin Cities, seriously the weather could have been more perfect! I only wish we could do it all over again!

We started things off with a nice boat ride, and Charlie was loving the breeze off the lake!

And I got to spend Saturday with a lot of my close friends, including my best girlfriends who I've been close with since middle school!!

Ashley Herbert, most annoying Bachelorette ever!?

Before I said I wasn't going to watch the Bachelorette this season because I thought Ashley Herbert was annoying. Even though my views on Ashley's annoying-ness have not changed, I gave in and watched the Bachelorette...

Ashley is more annoying than ever and the last two episodes were super boring. I guess the roast was a little entertaining, but horribly mean of the producers. Ashley is so insecure, but being compare to Emily by the guys you are dating over and over would be hard and probably make any girl feel insecure.

The only other thing that has been somewhat interesting on the Bachelorette, is the Ashley and Bentley fiasco. At the time I thought it seemed so dumb, but since he's been gone I've been bored, so bring him back so we can watch Ashley make a fool of herself some more... poor girl! I really don't know why she would be THAT into him... the way he talks is kinda irritating (so slow and dragged out and kinda monotone) and he's not that good looking either...

And I was curious about Bentley's ex-wife (who happens to be friends with Michelle Money) and Bentley definitely has a type...

Emily and Bentley ex-wife do look kinda a like, don't you think? I mean their hair is practically the same, and Emily did wear a lot of scarves....

I don't mean to sound so negative, but hopefully Bentley's return will bring the drama back to the Bachelorette! That's why we watch it, right?

I wasn't sure if the "Mellow Yellow" Xtreme Wear would work on me. I love yellow but yellow nails seemed a little odd (I mean if someone has yellowed nails it would normally be gross, right?!) and I didn't know if it would go with my skin tone.

However, I really liked it! It was a mellow enough yellow that I thought it looks very pretty and fresh. And I got sooo many comments on it, so this nail polish definitely stands out. My only negative is that is can go on a little streaky (I have the same issue with other very light colored nail polishes, like white) but after a few coats it looked great!

Finally... My Las Vegas Vacation!!!

My first time in Vegas was a blast! It’s definitely a place like no other!

The Hotel

We arrived in Vegas on Friday, May 20^th (I’m way behind, sorry!!) and checked in to our Hotel – MGM Grand. MGM is seriously HUGE! It’s the 3^rd largest in the world, and the largest when it first opened in 1993.

We picked MGM Grand because we knew we would be lying by the pool and MGM Grand’s pools are awesome!

The Pool

Ahhh... I wish I was back there!!!

The Food

We ate a ton of good food, there were so many choices for restaurants.

We ate at Il Fornaio (in New York-New York), Taqueria Cañonita (in the Venetian), The Grand Wok (in MGM Grand), Cuisine at Yolos Mexican Grill (in Planet Hollywood), and Rainforest Café (in MGM Grand). All the food was really good and there were so many restaurants that even with a big group, we usually didn't have to wait too long.

The Clubs

We also went to a few different clubs, and got in free by texting Megan @ Suitcase and Stilettos’ hook-up (thanks Megan!) and by talking to the promoters on the strip. It was definitely easier to get the girls in for free than the guys though.

The first club we went to was Surrender at Encore and Mary J Blige was going to be there later that night. Surrender had a really cool atmosphere, but the drinks were super expensive and we were meeting up with other friends so we didn’t stay for Mary J (I’m not really a fan anyways). Then we went to Jet at The Mirage, which was a little more my style anyways (Top 40 music over house music). It was packed, but we got VIP so that made it more fun! We also had a good time at Coyote Ugly in New York-New York, and I kinda wish we would have spend more time there. I wasn’t overly impressed with Tabú in MGM Grand, but it could have been bad timing. The line for XS at the Wynn was insane, so we didn’t go there, but I’m curious about it now!

The Billboard Music Awards

One of the most exciting parts of our Vegas vacation for me was that we got tickets to the Billboard Music Awards! It was right in MGM, so I was hoping that we would see some celebs hanging out by the pool or something.

No big celebrity sightings, but it was awesome to get to see so many of my favorite music artists perform! We saw Rihanna, Britney Spears, Black Eyed Peas, Cee Lo Green, Snoop Dogg, Beyonce, Taio Cruz, Ke$ha, Nicki Minaj, Pitbull, OneRepublic, Far East Movement, Neil Diamond, etc. etc.!! Beyonce's performance was soooo cool (and even cooler live than it was on TV), that was probably my favorite, but I really liked Rihanna and Britney Spears opening act too!

So overall, we had an awesome time in Vegas! It’s definitely a place you have to experience, so trashy but so glamorous at the same time, it’s crazy! I would definitely go back, but now that I’ve seen Las Vegas, I can probably wait a while, so many other cool places I’ve never been! We never made it to old Vegas, even though it was on the to-do list, so I still have that for next time.

I asked for your Vegas tips, which I printed and brought with me, they were so helpful! We walked a ton, luckily I brought some Dr. Scholl's Fast Flats (not the cheap kind that they have at Target, but the good ones that you can actually walk around outside – I got them at Famous Footwear). I was amazed at how many girls were rocking the extremely high heels… I thought I was good at heels but I totally need the fast flats – they were a total lifesaver!

Tips for a Las Vegas Vacation

I mentioned before, I’ve never been to Las Vegas and I want to go so bad! But I need your help if you have been there!

What do I NEED to do when I go to Vegas?

What good restaurants would you suggest? I am vegan but I’m pretty laid back so all I need is one good veggie meal on the menu, and the people I would go with are not vegan, and I want everyone to be happy! I want to do at least one nicer restaurant and maybe a buffet too? I don’t mind spending some money, but I don’t necessarily want to break the bank on a meal.

What clubs would you say to go to? Any good tips on this, i.e. what to wear, how to get free VIP or something :)

Would you recommend going to old Vegas, or just sticking on the strip? I've heard that old Vegas is fun, but wanted some more thoughts on this to see if it's worth checking out.

Are there any good, classic Las Vegas shows that you would recommend? I think it would be fun to do a big show like one of the cirque du soleil shows, but I haven't heard much about smaller, classic shows that have that Vegas feel!

What is the best tip you could give someone before going to Vegas for the first time?

Water for Elephants - Book Club #2

I was the host for our book club ’s second meeting and I selected Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen because I had heard from many people that was an amazing book.

I also had heard that Water for Elephants was being turned into a movie with Reese Witherspoon, who I love, and Robert Pattinson. When it comes to Twilight, I'm more of a “team Jacob” girl, but I like Edward too. Either way, I knew I would want to watch this movie.

Like a lot of people, I would rather read the book before seeing the movie. I thought it would be perfect to read Water for Elephants for book club and then go see the movie when we met for book club.

I enjoyed the book, but I think I liked the movie even better! I thought Robert Pattinson did an excellent job as Jacob Jankowski. I pictured his character different when I was reading the book, in the book I thought Jacob was more awkward and not quite as charming as Pattinson's portrayal of Jacob. And some people will probably hate me, but I thought he was more appealing playing Jacob Jankowski than he is playing Edward Cullen, so I guess I’m “team Jacob” again!

The differences between the book and movie seem to make the movie a little clearer, which I liked. For example, there was no "Uncle Al" which was a little confusing to me at first, but it really turned August into a more complete bad guy. The end had some pretty big differences too (which I won't mention because I don't want to give anything way to someone who hasn't read the book or seen the movie), but they didn't really change the overall story, but add an element that I didn't pick up on from the book that I liked. I won’t go into more detail, so this might not make a lot of sense, but let me know which version of Water for Elephants you liked better, the movie or the book.

We had a flock of chipping sparrows in our backyard on Saturday. The little birds were all over, it almost looked like the ground was moving because they kinda blended in. But we were in the house when something spooked them and they all started flying toward the house. Logan had just wash all the windows and this little guy flew into it. I was upset so I call my dad (who is an expert on animals, especially birds) and he told me that the sparrow was probably stunned and to leave it alone. About a half hour later, he was able to fly away, hopefully able to reunite with his flock.

Ugliest Bridesmaid's Dress Contest

So the reason for the hideous bridesmaid dress?! I won tickets on KDWB to go to a preview showing of the movie Bridesmaids, starring the super funny Kristen Wiig. Not only did we get to see the movie early (it’s not in theaters in May 13^th), but we also go to do a Q&A with Kristen Wigg and Wendi McLendon-Covey!!

So why the ugly dress…?? And what's that thing on my head?

To get into the showing, guests had to wear an ugly bridesmaid dress. And the ugliest bridesmaid of them all got a free trip for two to Vegas! So I tried my best to go all out, but sorry, no free trip to Vegas for me (again!). I went for the 80's hair, ugly bouquet, gloves with cut-off fingers and vintage wedding cake topper on my head!! You would think after all the money I've spend at the Mall of America, they would like me, but that apparently isn't the case ;)

But even though I didn’t win, I still had fun (click here to see the winner)!

I have heard numerous people say that this is a female version of the Hangover, and after seeing it, I have to disagree. Other than it being about a bridesmaids/groomsmen and they are both comedies, the movies don’t have a ton in common. Honestly, I probably would have liked it better if it was closer to the Hangover. I would say this movie is more of a Meet the Parents meets Bride Wars.

I watched the extended preview and I was so excited for this movie because it looked hilarious! And it’s not like some movies where they show the funniest parts in the previews… I’m pretty sure that a lot of the clips in the previews weren’t in the actual movie! It was much of a chick-flick than I had imagined, which I typically like, but it was definitely one raunchy click-flick!

Overall, it was a funny movie and I would say that you should see it, but I think it would be alright to wait until it comes out on video. My favorite parts were when all the bridesmaids were interacting and I would have like more screen time for actors like Wendi McLendon-Covey (she was on Reno 911!) and Ellie Kemper (she’s on The Office). I also really like Melissa McCarthy’s character (she’s also Molly in Mike and Molly, which I totally didn’t realize at first) and she was in the movie a little more. Of course, Kristen Wiig is hilarious and she was in the movie plenty, so if you like her on SNL, you will probably enjoy this movie!

I have Jumpers's Knee or Patella Tendonitis

I have jumper's knee and it totally sucks. My left knee feels okay some of the time, but aches frequently, sometimes so bad that I feel like I can't stand it. It wakes me up at night and makes me nervous about doing certain things. I've had this problem for at least a year a half and it doesn't seem like it's getting better.

At first the doctors thought I had patellofemoral pain syndrome, but I'm pretty sure I've had tendonitis all along. I might have both, but it's really the lower part of my knee that hurts the most (which would be jumper's knee).

It seems to hurt when I'm cold or when I haven't moved in a while, but sometimes it seems like it's totally out of the blue.

I've heard it's pretty common, and I see people at the gym wearing the "jumper's knee" brace/strap all the time:

I'm trying to research what I can do to feel better. Heat and Tylenol seem to work, but I want to heal and put this jumper's knee behind me already! I'm going to a physical therapy consultation next week... hopefully that will help.

Has anyone else had a similar problem and did anything help you?

♥ How Logan and I Got Together ♥

It all started my junior year when I met Logan in the fall of 2000 (I was 16, Logan was 17) at Jamie's parent's house. After playing in an Apple Valley football game, Logan and a few of his teammates were hanging out deciding what to do with the rest of the night. One of Logan's friends who I was also friends with (Tommy) called me to see what was happening that night. My friends and I were happy with the idea of hanging out with some cute football players from a different school and invited the guys over. When the five guys showed up they were greeted by Ashley, who was wearing a beer box over her head. I immediately thought Logan was sooo hott and went to a few Apple Valley football games and tried to find ways to hang out with these guys more.

A few things together, like went to Red Robin and had a game night here and there. Check out the photo below, me being sneaky and taking a picture of my friends when I really wanted a picture of Logan (and the fact that we were sitting next to each other... ummm yeah I'm a dork!).

The following March, Sadie's was coming up and I decided to ask Logan to the dance via AOL IM. Logan wasn't sure he wanted the first date to include dancing, so he said he had to check to see if he had to work that day, but he wanted to take me out either way. After "checking his work schedule," Logan decided he better suck it up and go to the dance too. And after a little plotting with Jamie, I told Logan that it would be cool if he brought a friend for her, more specifically Eric. And I pretty sure the guys ended up having a good time at the dance...

From there, Logan and Eric planned our first date and thought would be fun to take us on a double date to a college hockey game. After the game, we went to Perkin's where Jamie and I split a bread bowl (no salad) and they met up with some of the guy’s friends, BT and Knox.

After that, the we had our first alone date, dinner and a movie at Mall of America. The restaurants were busy and Logan did not think to make reservations, so they walked around for a bit then saw a mutual friend who worked at Abercrombie and ate at Arby's with him. Then we went to the movie "The Mexican" and we thought was the best movie ever and told everyone to go and see it. (We watched it again on our one year anniversary and discovered the movie was horrible. :)

A couple weeks later on April 13th, 2001 (ten years ago today), we were hanging out with a group of friends at Logan's Dad's house. Logan and I were talking outside his house and he asked me to be his girlfriend... and the rest is history!

The Results: Does Kenzia Moroccan hair oil work?

About a month ago I started using Kenzia Moroccan Argan Oil hair treatment, which has very similar ingredients to the brand Moroccanoil. (see my post: Moroccan hair oil ~ Does Moroccan hair oil really work?)

After reading some of your comments I was very excited to start using it.

So the results…

I LOVE this stuff! Seriously, there aren’t a lot of beauty products that live up to expectations as much as this one does. Moroccan oil has changed my whole morning routine…

Let me start by saying that my hair is fine and naturally wavy. It’s also pretty dry so it’s prone to being frizzy. Before using Kenzia Moroccan Oil, if I let my hair air-dry it would be a messy. However, when I use Moroccan oil it is much less frizzy, although it is still wavy/bumpy/whatever you wanna call it.

For about the past month, I haven’t really used any heated tools on my hair (no blowing driers, flat irons, curling irons, etc.) and that is a first. The Moroccan Oil makes my hair dry much faster, which is something I wouldn’t expect an oil to do, but it does!

So in the mornings, after showering I towel dry my hair a decent amount, and put Moroccan Oil all over my hair and a root busting product on my roots. Then I use the Velcro hair rollers and a little hair spray and let them dry for about a half hour.

My hair is a little damp when I take out the rollers, but it dries quickly and without going all frizzy.

If I did use a blow-dried and/or a curling iron/flat iron on my hair, I think my results would be even better. But it’s so nice not to have to, it cuts down the time I spend getting ready in the mornings. Plus, I’m trying to see if it will make a difference in the health of my hair by cutting out the heat, and no surprise here, I think it is helping.

I got the Kenzia Moroccan Argan Oil hair treatment at T.J. Maxx for $12.99 and a little goes a long way so it was a great value. I think it’s a little more online, but still a great deal. I’m not getting any perks from Kenzia or anything, just passing along my experience. Moroccanoil should give very similar results, since the ingredients are nearly identical, but if you find an off-brand, be sure the check the ingredients because they are not all created equally.

It's my "twin's" birthday!

Ok so maybe we aren't exactly twins, but pretty close :)

We've been friends since middle school but became really close during high school. We managed to get re-coordinate our schedules in high school so we had just about every class together and we worked the same jobs at Target and Minnesota. Logan and I also went on our first double date with Jamie and Eric.... and now 10 years later we are all married. We are also going to Vegas with them soon and I can't wait!!!

Charlie and Sawyer get a haircut.... or a puppy-cut!

I can never tell if like Charlie and Sawyer's hair better longer or shorter.

But since Spring is technically here (it’s still freezing… come on winter, end already!!) it was time for a haircut so they don’t as dirty and wet when they go outside. And it’s a lot easier to give them a bath with a short haircut too.

I cut their hair myself, so it’s definitely not perfect, but they are good boys and don’t give me much trouble when I’m giving them a trim. I try to do it “puppy-cut” style so they look more puppy-ish, and I use scissors instead of buzzing their hair.

So what do you think? Cuter longer or shorter?

This past weekend we celebrated our 10 year anniversary of our first date! It was a double date, the other couple (Jamie & Eric) has also been happily married for a few years. It's pretty crazy considering that my girlfriend and I were 16 and 17, respectively, when we went on that double date.

We went to Ichiban, which was very cool because I hadn't been to a Teppanyaki style grill where they cook in front of you. The food was amazing and it was a really fun experience!

Bachelor Recap - Brad picks Emily and Ashley Herbert is offically the new Bachelorette

So if you care at all (and probably even if you could care less) you know that Brad gave the final rose to Emily Maynard last night on the Bachelor.

Not to say I told you so, but I call this from the first episode, but I think just about everyone else who watch the show called this too. Shoot!

I really liked Emily's sparkly engagement ring!

If you are like me, you are wondering about their finalle dresses. According to hollywoodreporter.com, the show’s stylist picked 15 dresses each based on their individual styles. Emily and Chantal got to keep the dresses afterward.

I wonder if Chantal would rewear that dress, after she got dumped. I hope not!!! That dress was UGLY…. but I'm not a fan of feathers on clothes and I thought these feathers were particularly bad. However, I thought Emily's dress looked great on her, it totally suited her and the situation. Chantal's dress also suited the situation, since she got the boot and her dress looked depressing.

I loved Emily's new hair color and style on After The Final Rose, so pretty and natural looking!!

But it sounds rocky for the new couple, and who could really blames Emily for having second thoughts. Definitely not me! I still think that she is a little too good for him, but I wish them the best!

It's Friday, kinda warm and a little sunny and I'm feeling happy! This was a long, dreary week and I'm sooo ready for spring to finally get hear already!!

So this morning I found out that I won Envyderm Eyelash Growth Serum from Candace Rose, and I'm so excited to try it!! I'll definitely let you know if it works!!

And a co-worker brought in the February 2011 National Geographic magazine with this ADORABLE photo!! I saw this picture of the little fluffy monkey with the big eyes online the other day and totally fell for the little guy!!!

The Bachelor: More on Brad, Michelle Money, Chantal, the next bachelorette, Ashley H. and etc. etc.!!

As Brad’s second season of the Bachelor comes to an end, it’s time to relive some of the highlights during the 'The Bachelor: The Women Tell All.' Here are some of my favorite parts of this season.

1. Michelle Money definitely stole the show this season, and the first half would have been kinda boring without her. During the recap show, some of the girls are hard on Michelle, which is not surprising, but it seemed to be about 50% were on Team Michelle and 50% were haters. Do you think Michelle is a "spider" and a bad mom, or just has a very dry sense of humor?

I think it was clear Chris Harrison was on Team Michelle, he definitely came to Michelle's defense when the other girls started attacking her.

Speaking of being a mom, I found a picture of Michelle's daughter, Brielle, and her ex-husband:

Michelle also said that she thinks Brad should pick Emily. Do you think Emily would have been attacked for being a bad mom like Michelle was? I have a feeling that she wouldn’t have, which isn’t really fair.... poor Michelle Money!!!

2. Chantal O. slaps Brad Womack or as Brad put it “the slap hear around the world.” I think this was totally planned by the producers, but she did slap him pretty hard… ouch! Don't we all kinda wanna slap him at times?

3. Who will be the next Bachelorette??

There been lots of talk about if a new Bachelorette would come from this cast. I kinda doubt there is a Bachelorette among the group (they will save the good ones for Bachelor Pad!), but there have been rumors that it would be Emily, Chantal O., Ashley H., or Michelle. But I think it would be cool if Madison “Fangs” McKinley…. I mean vampires are sooo in right now!!

4. Ashley H. had a new hairstyle with darker hair, new extensions and bangs… what did you think? I’m not sure which I like better…

Can't wait to see who Brad picks in the finalle!!! One more week!

Bachelor ~ Who will Brad pick, Emily or Chantal?

Who will Brad pick, Emily or Chantel? That's the big question.

Hmmm... Brad's standing on his tip-toes when he's kissing Chantal... does that mean something?! HAHA

And I really thought he was going to go with Chantal, but after Monday's episode I don't know... Emily is opening up more and we all know she is beautiful.

I thought the safari Brad and Chantal went on looking AMAZING!! Makes me want to plan a trip to South Africa! But I don't know if I would want to stay in the tree house Brad stayed at with Chantal, I hope it had a bathroom!

And I noticed a lot of people who found my blog were typing phrases like "Chantal O. Fat" which is definitely NOT true, but let's face it, you have to be super skinny to pull off shorts with tennis shoes. And it doesn’t help when you are next to Emily and Ashley who are tiny. Chantel doesn't seem to pick the most flattering dresses either, like this red one she wore last week during the rose ceremony, sorry but it is not working for her....

But still, Chantal is a long way from fat people!!

Ok for Emily, she opened up and told Brad she was falling in love with him. For a long time, I thought Brad and Emily had no chemistry, but maybe she was just really shy and now she is opening up?

But Brad seems to be really comfortable around Chantal, and a little nervous/awkward around Emily. So does it come down to who do you have fun vs. who gives you butterflies?

A poll on ABC.com asks “Who will Brad propose too?” 68% think that Brad will propose to Emily, while only 28% think that Brad will propose to Chantal. Who do you think Brad will propose to?

My lovely friend that is a esthetician told me that she has started using Moroccan hair oil to make her hair healthier and shinier. Has anyone else tried Moroccan hair oil and has it worked for you?

I picked up some kenzia moroccan argan oil hair treatment, has anyone else tried this brand?

How does it compare to the Moroccanoil brand?

The brand Moroccanoil contains the following ingredients:
Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Cyclomethicone, Butylphenyl, MethylPropional, Argania Spinoza Kernal Oil (Aragan Oil), Linseed (Linum Usitatissimum) Extract, Fragrance Supplement, D&C Yellow-11, D&C Red-17, Coumarin, Benzyl Benzoate, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone

The brand kenzia contains the following ingredients:

Cyclopentasiloxane (silicone), Cyclomethicone (silicone), Dimethicone (silicone), Argania Spinoza Kernal Oil (Aragan Oil), Tocopheryl Acetate (vitamin E), PEG-8 (thickener), Tocopherol (more vitamin E), Ascorbyl Palmitate (form of vitamin C), Ascorbic Acid (form of vitamin C), Citric Acid (form of vitamin C), Lavandula Angustifolia Oil (lavender oil)

So after looking at this, I think I should be alright, afterall, Argan (Moroccan) Oil is higher on the ingredients list and the first three ingredients are the same.
