Breastfeeding on Sesame Street

Since getting pregnant and having a baby and now toddler, I've realized that I'm very pro-breastfeeding. I'm not one that will preach to non-breastfeeding moms, but I definitely put a lot of pressure on myself to breastfeed for the first year. Now my son is 16 months old and I'm still breastfeeding. It's probably time to ween, and I definitely wouldn't mind, but I'm not in too much of a hurry (obviously!). But I came across this Sesame Street clip about breastfeeding from the 70s that I thought was pretty neat! XOXO

How often do you nurse a day? My son is just a week shy of 1- and we are nursing twice a day and starting to wean. But I can understand how most mothers nurse longer. When I look at my little boy I don't see a big boy- I still see my sweet baby and its hard to find times when he isn't too busy to be loved on like he is when he is nursing!

Awesome job making it to the one year mark! I work full-time, so M-F I nurse him when he comes home and then when he goes to bed. I do overnight too, which I would really like to stop. The weekends, I probably do one extra time at naptime. I don't pump anymore, so he also drinks some whole milk.

Let me know how weaning goes and if you have any tricks for me :)

I breastfed my daughter until she was 22 months. My family gave me a hard time but I did what was best for us. Now when I look at pictures of her from that age she looks like such a baby. It's such a blessing to have that bond with your child and being able to not only grow another human being but to also make the food for this baby to grow and flourish. It's awesome!

Erin - That is awesome! Nice work mama!

It's funny/sad that it kinda goes against the norms in our society... i hope that changes. I just watched an interesting documentary on netflix called "Breastmilk" - have you seen it?

Thanks for visiting my blog!
