Tips for a Las Vegas Vacation

I mentioned before, I’ve never been to Las Vegas and I want to go so bad! But I need your help if you have been there!

What do I NEED to do when I go to Vegas?

What good restaurants would you suggest?  I am vegan but I’m pretty laid back so all I need is one good veggie meal on the menu, and the people I would go with are not vegan, and I want everyone to be happy!  I want to do at least one nicer restaurant and maybe a buffet too?  I don’t mind spending some money, but I don’t necessarily want to break the bank on a meal.

What clubs would you say to go to?  Any good tips on this, i.e. what to wear, how to get free VIP or something :)

Would you recommend going to old Vegas, or just sticking on the strip?  I've heard that old Vegas is fun, but wanted some more thoughts on this to see if it's worth checking out.

http://data.whicdn.com/images/1045696/tumblr_ktoztnf2lR1qzl1oeo1_r1_500_large.jpg?1259210176Are there any good, classic Las Vegas shows that you would recommend?  I think it would be fun to do a big show like one of the cirque du soleil shows, but I haven't heard much about smaller, classic shows that have that Vegas feel!

What is the best tip you could give someone before going to Vegas for the first time?

Thanks!  I appreciate your ideas!!

I lived there for 3 years and my suggestion is the Hard Rock Hotel Center Bar.
Also, the Red Square at Mandalay Bay.
Late night - Drais in the Barbary Coast.
Have fun!

I've been a few times, but always for work. I'm actually heading there in a few weeks, again, for work. I would like to go back with friends I think. To truly enjoy Vegas without such a time table inflicted by a conference.

u have to see Mystere at Treasure Island, such a good show and funny! - and you MUST make it to old vegas, u take the bus down there at night and it's TONS of fun, the walk turns into 1 big party, but it's a night thing, they have the Rolling Stones playing loud in the streets and this whole light show - i stayed in old vegas for a few nights - the pools are INSANE, the Golden Nugget down there has a aquarium pool with a slide, FUN FUN FUN n- i would suggest staying at the Golden Nugget for 1 night .... there's SO much to do there (vegas) u'll never have a dull minute! - and wherever u stay they will give u VIP at their club - i met Vera Wang when i went!!!

The last time I was in Vegas, it was with my parents during college. Haha. Lame, I know.

That being said, I can give you a few tips. If you have limited time on this trip, I would recommend sticking to the strip. After all, there is SO MUCH to do there, that you may just be wasting time leaving. Plus, that part of Vegas can be saved for another trip (give you an excuse to go back!).

I recommend visiting all the insanely fabulous hotel casinos. There are some really gorgeous and breathtaking ones to visit, such as the Aladdin, the Circus, Circus one, etc. (I really hope those are still around, lol).

Also, when you're on the strip, you will have several people try to approach you with "deals." They will say, "listen to a seminar and you will get a free pass to this amazing show!" or "get a free t-shirt if come into our office!" DO NOT GO. These people prey on tourists and will literally trap you into a two hour long session on why you should buy time share. And they will not let you leave without hounding you to buy one. They are incredibly persistant and annoying.

Also, final suggestion, is to attend at least one magic show. All the best magicians have shows there and it wouldn't be a Vegas experience without going to at least one. ;)

Have fun!!! xoxo

Whatever you decide to do...you are going to have a blast!!! Some recommendations- if its your first time...make sure you visit the Bellagio/Ventian and all the fancy hotels. You can just walk around and enjoy some of their art. It really is amazing. For restaurants...I really enjoy Mario Batali's restaurant B&B in the Venitian. Tad expensive but it was good. Also, if you like Sushi...the sushi restaurant in Treasure Island is amazing! Definitely hit up old Vegas. It is quite a site. Definitely old school and not as busy/crazy, but its nice to see! I definitely recommend any and all of the Cirque du Soleil shows. My two favorites are O at the Bellagio and Ka at MGM!!! Blew my mind. And for some advice- sleep is overrated:) And someone else mentioned not taking anything from the street people and I TOTALLY AGREE!!! Have a blast and live it up

Okay, Vegas is one of my favorite places in the world! Here's what I've enjoyed while vacationing there:

-shopping at the Premium Outlets (you have to go!)
-seeing Cirque shows - I've seen Love, Elvis and Mystere, they were both amazing!
-walking around Old Vegas at night - something I would recommend, the lights are amazing.
- watching the Bellagio water show at night
-walking around all of the hotels on the strip, there's so much to see

Nightclubs are really expensive to get into and you can't sit down anywhere unless you pay thousands of dollars for bottle service, it's ridiculous so don't wear super high heels or extremely uncomfortable shoes because you'll regret it. I've only been to a few clubs and they weren't all that great but I hear PURE is a hot spot.

Hope this helps!

Oh and stay away from tequila at Caesar's Palace, it's way too strong! It nearly killed me one night! ha ha

I'm no help, because I've never been to Vegas, but I've heard it's a lot of fun! I don't think I've ever heard of anyone NOT having a good time!!! :) Good luck planning your trip!

my favorite vegas buffet has to be "the buffet" at the wynn! my sister is a vegetarian and she loved it there too! i also suggest going to the older part of vegas too -- it's a different atmosphere, it's fun to see both sides. :) and of course, visit all the fab hotels! and go to serendipity 3 for yummy frozen hot chocolate! and shopping -- the outlets! :)

I totally agree with all of Marie a la Mode's suggestions! She nailed it!

I'd also suggest the following tips/ideas:
- pack comfy shoes, you'll do more walking then you can imagine!
-If you're a serious shopper then I'd recommend the Premium outlets (10 min cab ride from the strip) and the Fashion Show Mall (across from the Wynn)
- All Cirque Du Soleil shows are amazing, you can't go wrong. If you want a classic vegas show-girl-variety type show try "Jubilee!" at Bally's
- The clubs are tough to get into unless you reserve a table and order bottle service (so pricey!) But you'll likely get in if you get to the club early by 10 pm. We like XS at Encore and Pure at Caesars. Each hotel has so many places to grab a cocktail so you'll never go thirsty.
- Grab a slushy mixed cocktail from Fat Tuesday or MargaritaVille. They have kiosks all over Vegas. (don't feel you have to drink out of the huge plastic crazy cups, ask for a normal white cup)
- Check out the Sugar Factory at Planet Hollywood Miracle Mile shops if you want some sweet treats and celeb created gourmet Lollipops (ala Kim kardashian and Eva Longoria)
- You most defo do not have to gamble, there is so much to do in Vegas other than playing the slots or tables.
- Sit by the pool and soak up the sun!
- spa treatments are really overpriced so maybe think twice before going for a massage or facial.

You're going to have so much fun! Enjoy!

Have fun, see a good show like Jubilee! Stay somewhere with a great pool like The Trump and then go gamble somewhere else. Set your budget for gambling. Party, not too much though, you want to remember how much fun you had!

awww I love Vegas!!
I am not a fan of old Vegas... nothing to exciting down there...
If you are with all girls you will get into all the clubs free! Just walking thru casinos/hotels during the day, promotors will come up to you and ask for your name and put it on their list. I would give my name to two or three different promotors then decide late which club you want to go to. There are lots of good choices! You can even hop around. Shows... any of the circus de olay shows are great. I really want to see Peepshow and Absinthe! I love going to the piano bar, laying poolside, pick a hotel that has a great pool, they have great shopping if you are interested... You wont be bored there

I've been to Vegas sooo many times. (And I'm not even 21 yet!)
So I can't give to much advise on the clubs, but I have heard that Coyote Ugly in NY NY is fun!

I saw Cirque - Mystere (which I highly recommend!!!) And I saw the Beatle's Love show, but I wasn't impressed by that one.

Old Vegas is cool, but if you don't have time, skip it.

I love all of the buffets there, you should try at least one! The buffet at the RIO is really good (but it's off the strip!)

There is a really good restaurant in the NYNY hotel as well, I forget the name, but it's on the casino floor right by where you check in.)

NYNY and Stratosphere have fun rides to try!

I agree with what everyone says about shopping. Lots of really good shops there. Although they HAVE tax! haha so if MN has it, don't get it in vegas.

if you stay at the excalibur hotel, they have an amazing drink in a football thing (alcoholic and non) (which i still have)

hmm, during the day it is fun to go do like thee coca cola factory, and the gift shops.!

hope that helps!

Las Vegas is a lot of fun! I wrote a post about it a while ago, you can have a look and see if you find some useful information. Here is the link: http://cammiew4.blogspot.com/2011/01/las-vegas.html =)

Yayyy for you getting to go to Vegas!!! Unfortunately, I'm a Vegas vet and I know WAY too much about that city (mainly the strip area). I saw unfortunately beacuse my bank account says that ;-) Here are my tips (I should seriously do a post on this since I've been there so many times):

-Definitely do NOT splurge on a room your first time there. You totally should NOT be in your room much, and splurging on it can be a big no-no and a waste of money. But, I would suggest getting room that is centralized. My favorite place to suggest to people who have never been is Planet Hollywood. The rooms are reasonable, it is close to Miracle Mile shops (which have reasonably priced food and shops), and it is so centralized. Also, it is a younger, more hip crowd that stays there. Another place centralized but WAY more cheap is Flamingo. My sister was out there a few weeks back and stayed there. She said it was not bad at all for the price. I haven't stayed there, but know it is super great location.

-You should not pay for many drinks out there. And if you do, don't pay alot! I know at Koi in Planet Hollywood, ladies can get in for $20 all you can drink (not beer though) and that includes cover. I would NOT wanna stay here long because it is not lively, but it is a good place to get some quick drinks in you. This might only be midnight and after, I can't recall.

-My fav clubs are XS @ Encore/Wynn, Pure @ Caesars, anything at City Center (I think just because they are newer and fresher), The Bank @ Bellagio, Lavo.

-If you wanna get in VIP, contact one of these two guys:

"TomKat": 702-328-8051. He can for sure get you into the Palms clubs/bars for VIP.

"James D": 210-388-1020. He knows people EVERYWHERE. He can get you into Encore/Wynn, Palazzo, Venetian, and basically anywhere for VIP. This includes Encore Beach Club (pool).

Just send one of them a text during the day stating what you'd like to do, and they can get you on guestlist. They'll also answer questions you may have about what is going on locally ;-)

You totally don't have to gamble or splurge too much unless you want to. If you can bear the heat, I definitely suggest going in August. Rooms are cheap then. And I would also suggest staying Sunday night when you're out there. Rooms are cheapest on Sunday nights.

You live in MN right? I think you would be able to get a decently priced red-eye from MPS to LAS on Northwest Airlines.

Hope some of this at least helped!!! <3

VEGAS! I'm sure you're going to have an amazing time regardless of what you decide to do and where you decide to go.

My favorite buffets when we went were at the Aladdin and at the Bellagio. And I loved LAVO as a nightclub as well! Just me two cents!

xx dear.

So exciting! I've been a couple of times and am going again in July! I had an amazing breakfast at Mon Ami Gabi at the Paris. You can sit outside and watch the Bellagio fountains while you eat. It was one of my favorite meals that we had.

I recommend visiting Madame Tussauds Celebrity Wax Museum because it is always fun! My boyfriend and I had a great time just walking the strip and checking out each hotel/casino. Be sure to bring comfy shoes for sure! I made the mistake of not bringing any walking shoes and my sandals were nearly destroyed from all of the walking!

I've seen the Blue Man Group show at the Venetian and I really enjoyed it! It was interesting and pretty hilarious too.

No matter what, you will always find something fun to do! I hope you have the best time!!!

Restaurant - Buffet at the top of Circus Circus?
Show - Cirque Du Solei and the Pirate show at Treasure Island.

I also hear that there's an ice bar (probably overpriced) if you're into that sort of thing!

Since I'm not 21, I really enjoyed looking at the themes of each casino. Apparently, the largest H&M (or some other similar store) is there. Shopping may be an option too.

I like Old Vegas to see once but focus your time on the Strip.

Vegas is so great! I think the best show on the strip is KA and it's at MGM. There's a free show with Pirates every night at Treasure Island and it's definitely worth stopping by to see. For a casual sit down meal try America inside of NYNY. It's fun and the food is good!
